"We bought two 4ft x 4ft blinds for a basement bedroom to darken it. The windows already had metal blinds but the sun shone through terribly. We added these blinds to the inside of the window, behind the metal blinds, where they won't really show. We don't plan on raising and lowering them very much, if at all. And because of that, they work for us. If you will be raising and lowering them, even once a day, I would buy a higher quality. The pull cord feels very cheap like it will break, the gears the cords are attached to work very poorly (stiff and don't pull smoothly). The installation was a little tricky because they've redesigned the end of the roller opposite the pull cord and that type is not shown in their installation video. If you basically want something nicer for darkening a room than tin foil on the windows, and won't be raising and lowering the blinds, then, after using much care to install them, they'll probably work for you. If kids will be using them, definitely buy a higher quality blind."
